  • Giving your team enough data so they can respond with actionable, on-point advice
Coaching
  • Ways to rally a group around an idea by coaching and mentoring them
  • How to manage up
  • How to be a good Ambassador
  • Giving and receiving criticism

 

Session #2 Outline: Making Good Decisions for Your Organization
May 14, 4:30-6pm

  • Judgment

    • How to make the “right decision” for the organization

    • Weighing the risks and rewards of decisions for the health of the organization

  • Finance

    • A quick overview of how to read financials / Financial Literacy

    • Reading monthly reports

    • How to focus on what matters and discern trends

    • Developing tiger teams

    • What your legal responsibilities are to the organization

 

Session #3 Outline: Rallying Support from Your Leaders
August 13, 4:30-6pm

  • Motivation and Inspiration

    • How to work with an apathetic group to inspire change and commitment

    • How to build enthusiasm

    • Questions to ask when discovering your mission/vision/purpose

  • Protocol and obedience

    • Carrying out a mission and avoiding mission/vision drift

    • Understanding the chain of command

    • Avoiding bright shiny object syndrome

    • How to show commitment and accountability

      • List of expectations

      • Board menu for obligations

      • Time and money commitments

      • How to leave an organization
         



Session #4 Outline: Getting the Basics Right
November 5, 4:30-6pm

  • Building Your Team

    • Identifying the characteristics of a potential great board member

    • Building alliances

    • Attributes to target for new board members

    • How to exit the old guard

  • The Duty of Care

    • Outlining expectations of a team

    • Bylaws compliance

    • Avoiding risk

    • Due Process

    • Contracts

  • Loyalty

    • Showing what it takes to be “loyal” to an organization

      • Do no harm, do know harm
