Industry leaders to discuss social media’s impact on business, government, politics
An exceptional lineup of acclaimed speakers will tackle leading-edge social media topics on Thursday, September 14, when the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) presents Social Media Week Independent (SMWiFairfax). This event, carrying the theme Language and the Machine, will be hosted at Capital One headquarters in Tysons Corner, Va.
SMWiFairfax is a one-day event, acting under the guidance of Social Media Week and tailored to the community where it takes place. The goal of SMWiFairfax is to provoke discussion and debate on the changes in human connectivity through engaging, entertaining, educational and diverse content and experiences.
Fairfax County’s young, well-educated talent pool, strong business base and unique convergence of public and private entities make it a prime hub for the digital media industry.
“The convergence of deep IT talent and a wealth of content producers provides fertile ground for the digital media industry in Fairfax County,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA. “We are delighted to present this Social Media Week Independent event to showcase Fairfax County as a great location for digital media companies, all kinds of technology firms and the employees who work for them.”
